Marlon D. Henderson, DDS, FACD is the Immediate Past President of the National Dental Association. He currently serves as Secretary of the Diverse Dental Society. As the 99th NDA President in 2023, his theme was “Bridging the Generational Gap: Back to the Future of Advancing Oral Health Equity, Student Mentorship, and Raising Our Profile.”

Dr. Marlon D. Henderson is a native of Shreveport, Louisiana. He is a graduate of the Northwood High School, where he was Class Valedictorian, Class President, and National Honor Society President. Dr. Henderson graduated from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge with a Bachelor of Science degree (Major: Microbiology, Minor: Chemistry). He received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center School of Dentistry in New Orleans. Dr. Marlon D. Henderson then completed a General Practice Residency at the Medical Center of Louisiana (Charity Hospital) in New Orleans, where he served as Chief Resident. He returned to Shreveport working as an associate dentist and then opened Henderson Dentistry LLC, where he continues to practice.

In his quest to “build bridges,” Dr. Henderson has served as President of the Pelican State Dental Association (2014-2015), as a member of the Louisiana Health Care Commission (2016-2019), and as an LSU School of Dentistry Alumni Association Board Member (2005-2010). He is the recipient of the 2020 NDA President’s Award.
