Ms. Henderson is the former Executive Director of the National Dental Association (NDA) and currently serves as one of their Consultants. She joined the NDA team in 1998 and continues to work tirelessly to advocate for marginalized and underserved populations in promoting health equity. She is an accomplished association, conference, and financial leader with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Management with Magna Cum Laude honors, an Associate’s Degree in Accounting and a Certified Meeting Professional. This veteran Sergeant served 5 years in the DC Air National Guard as a medical technician.
LaVette’s diverse skillsets, passion, and determination has awarded her many recognitions to include, the first African American female recipient of an Honorary Fellowship in the American College of Dentists, the first female Executive Director of the National Dental Association, Smart Women in Meetings Award and Meeting Planner of the Year Award. Her skillset includes over 30 years of experience, critical thinking, project management, leadership, fostering corporate relationships, contract negotiations, event programming, content development, resolution focused, team building and strong logistical and analytical skills.
LaVette is one of the twelve founding members of the Diverse Dental Society and has her own company “LaHenderson Enterprises Inc”. She enjoys spending time with family, friends and relaxing by the water.
