Marlon D. Henderson, DDS is the current and 99th President of the National Dental Association. His theme in 2023 is “Bridging the Generational Gap: Back to the Future of Advancing Oral Health Equity, Student Mentorship, and Raising Our Profile.”

Dr. Marlon D. Henderson is a native of Shreveport, Louisiana. He is a graduate of the Northwood High School, where he was Class Valedictorian, Class President, and National Honor Society President. Dr. Henderson graduated from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge with a Bachelor of Science degree (Major: Microbiology, Minor: Chemistry). He received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center School of Dentistry in New Orleans. Dr. Marlon D. Henderson then completed a General Practice Residency at the Medical Center of Louisiana (Charity Hospital) in New Orleans, where he served as Chief Resident. He returned to Shreveport working as an associate dentist and then opened his private practice, Henderson Dentistry LLC.

Dr. Henderson served as President of the Pelican State Dental Association (2014-2015), as a member of the Louisiana Health Care Commission (2016-2019), and as an LSU School of Dentistry Alumni Association Board Member (2005-2010). He is the recipient of the 2020 NDA President’s Award.
